KNIME

KNIME Analytics Platform is an open source software for creating data science workflows. It is widely used in the scientific environment for interactive data analysis. Due to its user-friendly low/no-code approach, it facilitates the creation of workflows. Numerous modules exist for machine learning and data mining, among others.

With the KNIME server operated at the UFZ, cross-departmental and even worldwide collaboration with the created workflows is possible. KNIME workflows can be integrated into existing processes (e.g. integration with internal data sources) and executed on powerful hardware. Results of the analyses can be published worldwide as interactive charts and users benefit from automatic backups.

The KNIME server at the UFZ offers the following features, among others:

  • high-performance server for high workloads/data volumes
  • pre-installed Python and R packages
  • collaborative work on workflows
  • integration into UFZ infrastructure (login via UFZ login)
  • worldwide publication of results
  • automation of workflows via Scheduled Workflows or with a REST API
  • possibility to access UFZ internal data sources (Postgres, DMP, S3, ...)
  • automatic weekly backup
  • KNIME community at the UFZ in our Mattermost channel
