The Helmholtz Open Science Office and the Open Science Working Group

The mission of the Helmholtz Open Science Office is to promote the cultural change towards Open Science. Established in 2005, the Office sees itself as a service provider that supports this cultural change. The Helmholtz Open Science Office addresses all those involved in this process within Helmholtz.

The Helmholtz Open Science Office

  • is a service provider for the community for the cultural change "from closed to open".
  • promotes dialogue within the community and provides impulses to the community.
  • offers trainings and consultations around the topic of Open Science.
  • cooperates with the centers in the Open Science working group and in joint task groups.
  • makes a central contribution to the digital transformation.
  • represents the Helmholtz positions on Open Science at national and international level. The core topics of the Open Science Office are thus:

  • Open Research Data - access to and re-use of research data
  • Open Research Software - access to and re-use of scientific software
