2. Graphical User Interface

The starting page of GeoNetwork offers you access to the essential areas of the application depending on your role: Search function, Map Viewer, Editor Board, and Admin Console. All areas are accessible via header button (→1).

2.1 Starting Page

Entering GeoNetwork.ufz you reach the starting page of GeoNetwork. You can always get back there by clicking on the UFZ logo in the header

The starting page contains the following units:

  • Header: area navigation; login; language selection
  • Search box: simple search option
  • Filter Options (f. e. type of resource)
  • Preview of selected records (newest or most popular)

2.2 Login

The user management of GeoNetwork is connected to the UFZ system via LDAP. All employees are therefore able to login using their UFZ credentials (→2). Doing this the first time, a user account for the respective person will be created automatically.
