Labspace - Electronic lab notebook (ELN) sample and inventory management

For our lab ecosystem Labspace, we use the software eLabNext. It combines an electronic lab notebook (ELN) with sample and inventory management tools. The platform enables structured storage, documentation, and organization of research experiments and all associated data. A central aspect is collaborative work across multiple departments and users, as well as networking of scientific equipment.

This page is currently a work in progress and will be continuously updated during the implementation phase at UFZ in 2026.

Access to Labspace and joining groups

Get access

Labspace is a shibboleth-protected web application. If you go to the Labspace page you will be transfered to the identity provider of UFZ. Here you can enter the registration information of your UFZ user account to access Labspace.

Join groups

Once you are logged in, you can request an invitation to your groups. To join a group, navigate to the My groups menu at the top of the page and select the appropriate option from the dropdown next to your name.

My groups

Now you can see an overview of all groups. To become a member of a group, please select Join Group. We recommend to request an invitation to the group Labspace Community as well. In this group you can find our naming conventions, for storage units and samples for instance.
